Keep making and order online

Our bricks & mortar store in Dulwich Hill has temporarily closed however our ONLINE STORE IS OPEN. STORE/DOOR PICKUP CONTINUES FOR THE MOMENT.

  • Classes and social knitting have been suspended until further notice. Of course we'll organise a refund or store credit (our store credits don't expire) for anyone who has booked a class that won't be proceeding.
  • We can also provide kerb-side service if you don’t feel comfortable coming into the shop. Place your order online or over the phone – when you pull up, we carry it out to you! Just call us as you approach the store.
  • You can also give us a call to place orders. We are in the shop Mon-Sat 10am-5pm (Closed Sunday)

What a stressful week it's been. Are you okay? We've been thinking about all our wonderful customers and hoping and praying you're all well and safe during these difficult times. But have you been able to finish off some projects with this extra time that we're having at home? Or even better, cast on something new? We hope that the projects that you do make during this time are remembered for the soothing stitches that you make rather than the stress and worry that we're all feeling.
On Monday we made the difficult (but necessary) decision to close our store in Dulwich Hill for the safety of our staff and customers. It will be three years on Saturday 4 April since we first opened our doors to our lovely store and it's heartbreaking to see it closed - even if it is only temporary.
That said OUR ONLINE STORE IS OPEN and we've had LOTS of yarn delivered this week so we're busy planning projects. You can still choose to collect your online purchase directly from the store for the immediate future. We'll be at the store from Monday - Saturday from 10am - 5pm for store/door pickup (and kerbside delivery).
This week we received some fabulous new worsted weight / 10ply yarn that's perfect for all types of projects. Take a look at Santa Cruz 100% Organic Merino - it's a lovely, soft, slightly heathered organic yarn that feels lovely to use and comes in a great range of colours.
Also this week we took delivery of big, beautiful balls of Azteca yarn in a myriad of  colours that are gorgeous used on their own or worked with another colour. We've shared some inspiration with you below. We've also got more Noro Ito back in stock - this flew out the door last time we received a shipment so take a look. We just love the look of the big, colourful barrels of yarn!
Our Chiaogoo order has also arrived so if you've been needing to stock up with more tips, cables, fixed circulars, kits etc then jump online and order it now. With our distributor in New Zealand unable to dispatch any orders in the immediate future (thanks to their country's lockdown) we're not sure when we can next expect another delivery.
Finally, Brooklyn Tweed remains discounted as part of their Apart Together initiative where the discounted amount gets credited back to us. We are so grateful of their generosity and helping out all the Local Yarn Stores around the world. While our stock is a little depleted at the moment, you can still find beautiful yarn at a great price for all sorts of projects. We're hoping to place another order with them this weekend and will be crossing all our fingers that freight is still being allowed out of the US for the near future. If there's a colour that you've been wanting let us know via email and we can make sure it's included in our order.
We have implemented many safety and physical distancing guidelines this week. We are scattered throughout our shop and office to make sure that we spend very little time in each other's company. We are not allowing anyone into the shop other than staff, and any delivery is left outside and unpacked into crates so that none of the cardboard handled by courier companies comes into the shop. Fortunately the time that it takes for deliveries to reach us acts is a quarantine so that everything inside is safe and clean.
We'll be sending out another newsletter on Tuesday to keep you up to date with all that's happening (and because we have MORE YARN to tell you about!) Keep safe and well and we hope you find comfort in your making. Please share your projects with us on social media using the hashtag #skeinsisters
Thank you a thousand times over for all your kind wishes and ongoing support - we'd be lost without this wonderful yarny community.

Deb & Janine xxx
