This fun-to-knit wrap shows off that super-special skein of yarn to perfection. It has lots of length for wrapping without lots of depth so it's not too bulky to wear. And even though the pattern looks a little complex, it's really not. Or staff member Penny has made several of these gorgeous shawls and says it's one of the easiest patterns she's made. You don't need to count a single stitch!
We've put together these stunning colour combos, or build your own from individual skeins. You can find Mountains Silk and Wool Works Australian Merino here and Bellevue Park Wool Handdyed 8ply here. You need at least 200m of the Mountains Silk and Wool Works Australian Merino.
Mountains Silk and Wool Works Australian Merino is a hand-dyed and hand spun yarn. With colours that blend from one into the next, exquisite shades appear as you knit or crochet. At 21 microns, this yarn is beautifully soft and very lofty.
The fibre is dyed and spun by hand by Cathy Hill of Mountains Silk and Wool Works. Each skein takes at least five hours to spin.
Grown in the Rocky Plains area of the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales, Bellevue Park's superfine 8ply / DK weight merino is of the very highest standard. Coming from the highest quality sheep, Bellevue Park’s wool is grown for its warmth, lustrous yet gentle feel, minimal irritation and maximum comfort. A pure wool product, the elasticity of the fibre gives your project more give, more drape and the lasting ability to retain its shape.
Rosie (one of our lovely staff) says, "It's squishy, extremely soft, quite lofty, a dream to work with and feels beautiful in your hands. It holds tension in the stitches but it's still silky smooth."
The tonal semi-solid colourways of this hand-dyed yarn have been designed by NSW-based indie dyer Drover & Classer.
