Sockmatician Moody Hues 4ply is a luxury blend of premium natural fibres that includes rare breed and merino wool as well as 10% possum, dyed in contemporary yet classic shades that are suitable for adults and children alike. The yarn is deliciously soft and warm, ideal for garments, accessories and home wares.
This a uniquely New Zealand yarn, made by the Design Spun mill in Napier. Making up 90% of the yarn is a whole mish-mash of natural fibres that are remnants of all the different yarns that the mill makes. There are always bits and pieces of fibre left over from the carding, combing, gilling and spinning processes. Rather than being thrown away they have been blended together and then mixed with the possum fibre to create this lovely yarn.
This fine fingering 4ply yarn has been developed in collaboration with Nathan Taylor, Sockmatician. Nathan has helped inspire a broody range of shades to work beautifully in garment knitting, especially utilising his passion for double-knitting - a fully reversible knitted fabric technique. You can listen to Nathan launching the yarn here, as well as how he chose the names and colours.
Please be aware that this yarn isn't intended as a sock yarn, but as a divine luxury fine weight general yarn.
