Do you enjoy knitting but struggle with adding the finishing touches to your projects? Are you tired of having unsightly button bands or uneven edges? Then this workshop is perfect for you! Join this practical class with Tash and learn to finish your handmade knitwear to perfection.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn essential finishing techniques to give your knitted projects a professional and polished look. Tash will demonstrate step-by-step how to finish your knitting projects with finesse leading you through all these techniques including: picking up stitches - the maths behind pickup ratios and how to plan picking up stitches before you start; how to create perfect necklines that are a pleasure to wear; how to pickup and knit buttonbands; and how to finish underarms neatly. She'll also share loads of tips and tricks used by experienced knitters, and more.
Throughout the workshop you'll have the opportunity to ask plenty of questions and to practice on your own swatches, allowing you to perfect your skills under the guidance of your teacher before you take them home and use them on your own hand-knitted projects.
Skills required: adventurous beginners and up will enjoy this class. You must be comfortable with the knit and purl stitches, and casting on and off. There is some pre-class homework that won't take very long, you need to do this at home and bring it with you (see below). This is NOT a class for absolute beginner knitters (please book into our Learn to Knit class if you're just starting out).
You'll be amazed at how professional and well finished your knitting projects will look once you learn the techniques that Tash covers in this workshop. By the end you'll have the knowledge and confidence to tackle any knitting project and finish it to perfection. Your teacher: Tash Childers
Tash has been knitting ever since her grandmother taught her at 8 years of age. She was always a fearless knitter, tackling an all-over intarsia vest for her mum as her first garment when she was 12. While taking time off from Mathematics teaching to raise her children, she taught many of her friends to knit and co-ordinated a mothers’ group for knitters. She is passionate about sharing the joy of knitting with others and helping knitters to improve their skills, so they have the confidence to tackle any project.
