Welcome to the incredibly beautiful and luxuriously soft hand-dyed alpaca yarn from Blackwattle Yarn (previously One Tree Hill). Owners Matt and Angela (Angela also dyes the yarn) have created an extraordinary range of yarns that are quickly earning a reputation among lovers of indie-dyed yarn.
Angela and Matt's alpaca journey started in 2008 with the purchase of two alpacas (now a herd of over 70) and their passion for a sustainable alpaca wool and yarn business within Australia is the driving force behind the One Tree Hill Alpaca Stud business. The farm, One Tree Hill, is named after a very old and beautiful heather tree on the top of their property's highest point in Murrumbateman NSW.
Matt and Angela are committed to ensuring yarn and fibre is not only sustainable but is also traceable from the farm where it was grown through to the mill where it was processed. Their yarn is processed at three mills - two in NSW: Boston Fine Fibres, Burra (one hour from the farm) and Adagio Mill, Orange (three hours from the farm) whilst the Senna and Grevillea bases are milled in New Zealand. Blackwattle Yarn's alpaca products are 100% grown in NSW. Angela has hand-dyed a colour range of yarns which is exclusive to Skein Sisters.
