Based in Perth WA, Debbie Ogilby's adventures into yarn dyeing came as a result of having played with many indie dyed yarns in her time of owning a fabric and yarn store.
"Yarns had become my favourite making medium, and I believed I also had something to offer creatively in the field. Bye bye shop... hello joyful colour play.
Gathering together samples of yarn bases that I preferred, I started applying colour with gay abandon! Naughtily as a dyer, I keep recipes, but my techniques are complex, so exact duplication isn't the norm - but the originality that this alchemy of colour creates makes me happy. I suppose you could call me the 'slow' dyer as I cannot and will not ever produce in large quantities, which would compromise my offering.
My inspiration is nature and nurture, my mind pictures collections of colours always... I see garments, accessories and blankets, and I imagine them in use. I create colour to satisfy those visions, working to make the most exciting yarns I can so we all can honour our time and imaginations without compromise and with respect to our beautiful mother earth."
