Natural Fibre Arts
Natural Fibre Arts is a fibre arts business from the lovely Sunshine Coast Queensland, creating beautiful artisan hand-dyed yarns. This small home-based business was started back in 2008 by Cheryl, the face and voice behind the business's social media channels ('Naturalfibrearts' on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest).
Fast forward ten years, and with the business growing and expanding an extra set of hands was called for, so Cheryl's oldest daughter Vanessa has joined the team as a fibre artist, bringing her own flavour and unique colourways to the business. Together Cheryl and Vanessa are constantly exploring new techniques and updating products to ensure fibre enthusiasts receive yarn they love.
Natural Fibre Arts is committed to treading lightly on this earth and to choosing yarn bases that are sustainable and ethically sourced. Australian wool is used where possible, however some blends are from wool grown in the UK and South America, supporting small family-run farms in those countries. Greener Shades Dyes are used (which do not contain heavy metals) which is healthier for Cheryl and Vanessa as dyers and also for their customers.
Cheryl and Vanessa both embrace the recent return to a slow clothing movement where handmade is treasured again. Collaborating with knitwear designers and seeing their yarns turned into gorgeous hand-made garments is one of their favourite things. They are constantly updating and improving their dyeing techniques, procedures and creations to continue bringing stunning products to knitters and crocheters across all corners of the globe.
