Pirate Purl Yarns is passionate about colour and about supporting high quality, small-scale, environmentally conscious, and ethically-minded Aussie farmers.
Owner and dyer, Katrina Kellett started experimenting with mixing colour in 2015. Having returned to Australia after living abroad Katrina was fuelled by a desire to see top quality Australian yarns dyed in eye-catching colours....and so began her adventure in sourcing Aussie producers and mills.
Pirate Purl Yarns buy their luxury fibres and yarns exclusively from farms in Victoria and Tasmania. The yarns are single-origin, scoured and spun in either Australia or New Zealand, minimising the journey from farm to you. Pirate Purl Yarns specialise in small batch and one-of-a-kind adventurous colourways in yarns perfect for next to skin projects like mittens, hats, shawls, vests or pullovers.
Each skein is carefully hand-dyed by Katrina in her little studio in the harbour town of Newcastle, Australia.
