Tukuwool was born from the love for wool and also from the passion to create something new and unique. Tukuwool yarn is a pure Finnish yarn – raised, spun and dyed in Finland. The yarns speak from individuality, braveness and deep feelings, with the interplay of material and colour in knitting being the focus of the yarn design.
The story of Tukuwool began in the year 2014 as a one women hobby. Pauliina Hurme made amazing work and created a working international and Finnish yarn brand. TitiTyy bought the brand in April 2016 and now Tukuwool is growing into a strong international yarn brand with demand for their beautiful yarns growing all the time.
Tukuwool Fingering was the first yarn released, with production started in the autumn of 2016 and growing to 23 colors in the shade card. In the autumn of 2016 a new Finnish sock yarn Tukuwool Sock was launched, using the same colour palette as Tukuwool Fingering. We are stocking both bases and, once the balance of the colours is finished in production in late May by Tukuwool, we will stock every colour.
The soul of the yarn is 100% Finnish - the home of Tukuwool is in Jyväskylä, while the yarn is spun in Mikkeli and dyed in Hämeenkyrö.
Many patterns have been designed in Tukuwool and have been featured in magazines such as Laine. To find patterns designed for this wonderful yarn, see this Ravelry search page.
"Since the very beginning it has been about the play with colours and joy of knitting. We want to spread the joy by being part of the knitting community. We work closely together with the top knitwear designers of the world." - Tukuwool
