Shelley Husband is a designer, an author and a serious champion of making crochet easy and enjoyable. She learned to crochet as a child, then it took her almost 40 years to make her next granny square – and she hasn't stopped since. Soon after that square she had a new design in mind, and then another, and another. The designs have not slowed, and her granny square community is still buzzing.
From her first book, Granny Square Flair, which won the UK's Best Crochet Book in 2019, through to her twelfth, Shelley gives her community what they ask for. There is an app now, an online group and regular workshops around the country, and she loves getting the curious hooked on granny squares. New crocheters and old hands fall in love with the way her patterns are written to be practical – confidence built one square at a time.
When she isn't running a retreat, working a workshop or designing the next book from her hook, Shelley is at home on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung Peoples of the Kulin Nation – also known as Bendigo, in Victoria.
