Crafted from the same hypoallergenic surgical-grade stainless steel as ChiaoGoo’s round TWIST tips, QUADS™ feature the same precise lace point and smooth yarn glide. Their unique square shape encourages uniform stitch definition while maintaining the same gauge as equivalent round tips - so there’s no need to size up, unlike other square needles.

The precisely machined tips are lightweight, beautifully balanced, and laser imprinted with their size for easy identification. The join between cable and tip is exceptionally smooth with no catching, and when paired with ChiaoGoo’s red TWIST cables, stitches grip and glide effortlessly for accurate, controlled knitting.

QUADS™ interchangeable tips are compatible with SWIV360 cables, TWIST red cables, and SPIN nylon cables (sold separately).

The 13 cm tips are ideal for most knitting projects, while 10 cm tips are especially suited to smaller hands or when using 15cm or 20cm cables for small circulars. Many knitters also find they achieve a firmer tension with the shorter tips.

ChiaoGoo

ChiaoGoo means 'highly skillful and crafty lady'. She was the mother of the four brothers who founded the company – a knitter who kept a family of seven warm through long winters, sold what was left over to neighbours, and tested every needle the family made.

Her husband built a bamboo needle workshop in the early 1980s. His father before him travelled from town to town with a bamboo tool kit, making chairs, baskets, rice barrels and steamers. In 2005 the four sons incorporated it properly: made in Hangzhou, distributed from Troy, Michigan.

Two things they do that nobody else bothers with. Three different join diameters, because one join can't serve a 1.5mm needle and a 10mm one equally well. And the honey colour on the bamboo isn't stain or varnish – it's heat.
