If you've seen our version of Soldotna Crop in Skein Sisters Poet worsted/10ply and thought that you'd like to make one, now is the time to cast on. This lovely trans-seasonal garment is perfect for layering over your favourite dress, skirt or jeans in autumn & winter!

Designed by Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks, this stunning four-colour stranded colourwork design features a striking geometric pattern and a circular yoke. Create your own unique colour combination, or make it easy with our curated yarn sets, including Deb’s version (Plumage), in our gorgeous worsted weight yarn - Poet.

About the kits:

Suggested ease: 2.5cm-11.5cm
Our choice of C1-C4 are shown from left to right in our images.
C2 is the main body colour.

Our modifications (optional):

Deb is wearing a size 3 in the Plumage colourway.
Poet is slightly plumper than the specified yarn so we used 3.5 & 4mm needles
Omitted the body dots to highlight the beauty of the variegated yarn—there’s enough yarn to include them if you prefer.
Lengthened the body by 10cm, as the original top is very cropped.
Added two rows of C3 to the body hem and cast off - this was due to only using one skein of C1 (the pattern specifies two skeins for this size, but one was enough with this adjustment).

We’ve provided yarn quantities to make your Soldotna longer, as the original is quite short. This top is an absolute joy to knit. Grab a kit and cast on today!

Hand-dyed in Australia

As a hand-dyed yarn, each skein is unique. While we take great care to ensure consistency across dyelots, we recommend alternating skeins when working on larger projects.

Skein Sisters Yarns are hand-dyed in Dulwich Hill in Sydney, Australia on the country of the Bedigal, Wangal and Kameygal people of the Eora Nation.
