Discover how to plan and create sweaters that fit perfectly and reflect your style, body shape and personality...

You've all seen the images of the beautiful jumpers and cardigans that Deb knits and wears in our newsletter and on social media. In this fabulous masterclass Deb will talk about everything to do with creating beautiful knitted sweaters and cardigans that fit to perfection! She'll also share loads of her tips and tricks for knitting the most perfect garments that you'll love to wear again and again.

During the workshop, Deb will share key elements to think about when planning a successful sweater project. She'll start by discussing yarns, swatching and creating a fabric you love. She'll then move on to talk about different sweater styles and shapes, sizing, and selecting colours that work for you. She'll also discuss alterations, and tips and tricks that you can use in your knitting that will give your sweater a perfect finish that you'll love.

Presented in an informative Q&A format, this workshop is a great opportunity to meet new people and connect with others who share your passion for knitting.

Please bring along some jumpers and/or cardigans of your own:

  • at least one you love and wear a lot,
  • one you were disappointed in the way it turned out or you just don't feel right wearing,
  • if you have one, a current work in progress (particularly if it's not working out the way you wanted).

We're going to have lots of fun trying on garments and looking at what works for your body shape, or not! You will have the chance to share your progress, ask questions, and get feedback from your fellow knitters.

Perfect for knitters of all levels, from advanced beginners and upwards, you'll be inspired by Deb's enthusiasm and love of garment knitting to gather up your yarn and needles and knit! Whether you're starting with a specific pattern in mind or want to create a sweater from scratch and don't know where to start, this workshop will guide you and give you confidence to make informed choices and create a unique and personalised sweater that you'll wear again and again.

"The Sweater Class with Deb was fabulous! Deb was very generous in sharing her knowledge and ‘eye’ on what to knit to suit each person. We covered a range of topics including schematics, gauge, colours and where to modify patterns. Deb had a swathe of her own jumpers/cardies, and others, for us to try on; and each person had an opportunity to try different from their usual patterns to be inspired. We all left with a long list of what to knit next, and the satisfaction of a happy afternoon well spent in good company!" Laura, Wiradjuri country, NSW

Book now for this inspiring, informative and fun workshop with Deb and discover how to create sweaters that reflect your unique style. You'll leave the workshop with the confidence and skills to tackle more complex knitting projects in the future, bolstered by connecting with other knitters and sharing your ideas and inspiration.

Skills Needed

Although we won't be doing any knitting in the class, you must be comfortable with knitting and be familiar with basic knit and purl stitches, plus casting on and binding off. Knowing how to knit in the round will also be helpful. Ideally you'll have made some sweaters before.
