Life in Loops is Kirsty and Paul – a small Australian family business near Newcastle, running on early mornings, dye-splattered aprons and the belief that the most beautiful things are made slowly, thoughtfully and with a little love stitched into every step. Kirsty dyes the yarn. Paul makes the hooks.
Out in a shed behind the house, Paul handcrafts every single one, and you can feel it. They're turned from timber, resin and acrylic, with the most gorgeous colours running right through them, and they come in every shape and size to suit every hand – nothing mass-produced, nothing rushed, made the way things used to be.
And here's the lovely surprise: the fanciest-looking ones are often the most comfortable to use. They might look a little unusual at first, but the moment your fingers wrap around them they fit perfectly – which is exactly what happens when a maker makes something for other makers.
