A yarn shop made for makers
Deb and Janine opened Skein Sisters in Sydney’s Inner West in 2017, after years of dreaming and planning. We wanted the kind of yarn shop we’d love to walk into ourselves – full of colour, beautiful natural fibres and people who knit and crochet as much as you do.
Whether you’re picking up your very first ball or planning your next jumper, we’ll help you choose the yarn, the needles and the pattern – and we’re happy to talk through your project for as long as it takes.
We may be in the Inner West, but plenty of knitters and crocheters from Canberra and the Blue Mountains think of us as their local yarn shop – we’re so easy to get to and so easy to park.
Things you can only do in the shop
Squish every yarn
See whole colour ranges side by side on the wall, and feel the difference for yourself.
Try on our samples
We have tons of knitted and crocheted samples to try on and swatches to feel.
Put colours together
Work out colour combos by eye, not on a screen, and keep swapping colours until they’re just right.
Match yarn to pattern
Bring your pattern and we’ll help you find the right yarn for it. If you don’t have a pattern yet, we’ll help you find that too.
One-on-one help, every time
All of our team are knitters and crocheters too. Please ask us anything.

Knitting and crochet classes in Sydney
From complete beginners to seasoned crafters, our classes and workshops run in the classroom inside the shop – and on the day of your class you get 10% off anything you buy in the shop.
Stuck on a project? Book our Help Clinic every Tuesday (knitting) and Wednesday (knitting and crochet), 12–2pm.
Social night – join us on the last Thursday of the month, 6.30–8.30pm (except December). Just drop in with your knitting or crochet, no need to book.

Visiting the shop
Where is Skein Sisters?
721 New Canterbury Road, Dulwich Hill, in Sydney’s Inner West.
When are you open?
Seven days: Monday to Saturday 10am–4pm and Sunday 11am–3pm. We’re closed on public holidays.
Is there parking?
Yes – plenty of all-day and two-hour parking around the shop, including right outside on New Canterbury Road.
Can I get there by train or light rail?
Hurlstone Park train station and Dulwich Grove light rail are each about a 10-minute walk away, and buses stop on New Canterbury Road.
Is the shop accessible?
Yes – our double doors on New Canterbury Road give flat access, and the shop is accessible to all.
Do you run knitting and crochet classes?
Yes, in our classroom in the shop – see the class calendar.
Is there a knitting group?
Yes! Social night is the last Thursday of the month, 6.30–8.30pm (not in December). Just drop in.
Can I use Afterpay in the shop?
Afterpay is online only, sorry – it isn’t available in the shop. But you can pop your order in online while you’re visiting and take it home with you straight away.
