(Pattern information can be found on Ravelry via the links). If you want to try a colourwork sweater, we recommend patterns which are for top down knitting in the round. This means there are no seams and no purling which makes colourwork much easier.

Skills Needed

Skill level: knitters who are comfortable with casting on, knit and purl stitches and knitting in the round will enjoy this class.

What To Bring

Approximately 200m of main colour (MC), 60m of one contrast colour or 20m x 3 Contrast Colours (CC) in wool (or wool blend) 10ply / worsted weight yarn. Suggested yarns are Fiddlesticks Grange 10, Fiddlesticks Peppin 10, or any other suitable 10ply yarn from your stash.
1 x 3.75mm 40cm circular needles
1 x 4.50mm 40cm circular needles
1 x 4.50mm 80-100cm circular needles

Class Prep

On your 3.75mm (40cm) needles, using your main colour, cast on 102 sts and join in the round, being careful not to twist.

Work 5cm of 1 x 1 rib

Change to 4.5mm needles (40cm) and work 1 round of knit stitch.

Do not break your yarn or cast off. Leave your work on the needles and bring it with you on the day.

You will leave with: A partially completed Hamlet Hat and the pattern and skills to complete it, along with the confidence to create more colour work projects.

If you need to purchase materials on the day of your class please arrive 20 minutes early and we’ll help you with your selection.

You’ll receive a 10% discount on any yarn, notions and book purchases you make in store on the day.

The main shop is accessible to all.
The double doors on New Canterbury Road allow for flat access to the shop.

Parking

There is plenty of all-day and two-hour parking around Skein Sisters.
Parking along New Canterbury Road, directly outside the shop, allows for access to the shop for those using wheelchairs or disability scooters.

Public Transport

We are a 10-minute walk from Hurlstone Park train station, as well as Dulwich Grove Light Rail station. Buses also run along New Canterbury Road past the shop.

Cancellation

You can cancel a class booking...

Up to 7 days before the class – you are able to cancel and receive a full refund.
7 days – 72 hours before the class – we are able to offer a credit but we cannot guarantee a full refund unless another booking fills your spot.
Less than 72 hours before the class – no credit or refund available.

Class Terms & Conditions

Full payment is required prior to the start of the class to confirm your spot.

Minimum numbers – All classes require a minimum of three people in order to go ahead and, depending on the class, a maximum of ten. If your class or workshop does not have the minimum number of students, the class will be postponed and you will be notified within three days of the class date if it has been cancelled or changed. We cannot be held liable for travel or any other costs in the event of a cancellation.

If your class is postponed or cancelled you can use the amount paid to transfer to another event/activity, use it as a store credit, or be issued a full refund.

Linda Scocca

Linda was taught how to knit by her mum when she was eight years old and encouraged by both her Nonna’s to keep her hands busy. Knitting, crochet, embroidery and sewing where all a part of her life from a young age. After a break from crafting Linda came back to it, and knitting in particular, with a vengeance! Shawls, jumpers, cardigans, socks, colourwork, lace, cables, accessories - she wants and does knit all the things!

Linda enjoys helping many knitters and crocheters decipher tricky patterns and learn new techniques at our regular Help Clinic. She has oodles of patience for beginners and is excited to welcome newcomers to our much loved craft.
