Friday 2 April 2027, 1pm – 4pm
Learn the technique behind Fox Paws from the knitter who invented it.
Stacked stitches are an innovative approach to striped colourwork, best known as the technique behind Xandy Peters’ famous Fox Paws pattern. Stacks can add shaping, create 3D texture and replace short rows – and when combined with stripes, they create intricate motifs without any strands on the wrong side of your work.
You’ll never need to manage more than one colour at a time or worry about bobbins, because stacked stitches bend rows of garter stitch into new shapes and patterns using only increases and decreases.
In this introductory class Xandy will help you try out the technique in a swatch and become confident working patterns that use stacked stitches. You’ll focus on mastering the stacked increases and decreases, and learn his strategies for avoiding problems and fixing mistakes.
In this class you’ll learn…
- What stacked stitches are and how they create wavy stripes
- How to work stacked increases and decreases
- How to read patterns that use stacked stitches
- Strategies for avoiding problems and fixing mistakes
