Why you'll love it

So you’ve made a pile of gorgeous granny squares… now what?

Joining motifs is the step that turns individual crochet pieces into blankets, garments, cushions and more. In this class you’ll learn several ways to join crochet motifs and understand how each method changes the look and structure of your finished project. By trying the techniques yourself, you’ll gain the confidence to choose the best joining method for your projects and create neat, professional-looking results.

We’ll explore a variety of joining techniques and talk through the pros and cons of each. Some joins are nearly invisible, some become decorative features, and others are fast and sturdy – perfect for larger projects.

You’ll also get hands-on practice with the different methods during the class, giving you the experience you need to decide which joining style you prefer before starting your next crochet project.

What you’ll learn:

  • several methods for joining crochet motifs
  • when and why to use different joining techniques
  • the advantages and disadvantages of each method
  • how joining choices affect the look and structure of your finished project
  • pick up tips for neat, professional joins

Skill level: Advanced beginner – if you can crochet a granny square, you’re ready for this class.

Skills Needed

You should be able to make the basic crochet stitches - chain and double in US terms (equivalent to chain and treble in UK terms).
This class is aimed at beginners who have mastered the basic stitches and are ready for the next steps. The class is perfect for you if you're fairly new to crochet, you're looking for a refresher, or you've already done our Beginner Crochet class.
Please note: this is not a beginner crochet class. If you can't crochet the basic stitches then our Beginner Crochet class is the perfect choice for you.
