Why you'll love it

Noro Ito is a gorgeous colour changing 100% wool 10ply / worsted weight yarn that comes in a large 200g ball. Self-striping and featuring Noro's signature single strand with natural uneveness, Noro Ito can be used for fabulous sweaters, ponchos and other garments, or used to knit or crochet gorgeous blankets and accessories.

Noro yarn adds interest to simple designs or may be used to accentuate modular or geometric design components.

Characteristic features of Noro yarn are lightness, softness, and loftiness, with thickness of the yarn as an average value. Because it is a handmade yarn with raw materials being weighed and lined by human hands, there are areas that are thick and areas that are thin. There are areas where the strand is tight and where the strand is loose, so please knit gently and discover the joy of knitting Noro yarns.

About knots: unlike other yarn, handmade Noro yarn cannot be continuously spun without knots. The spun yarn is finished by rolling up at about 80-90g then the yarn is knotted together in a ball or hank. Please understand that in some cases there may be a knot or two in your ball or hank of handspun Noro yarn.

Yarn Weight vs Yarn Ply

"Ply" technically refers to the construction of the yarn. It's the number of strands that are twisted together to make a single piece of yarn. While "ply" historically related to the thickness (or weight) of the yarn, today's spinning technology means that the number of plies doesn't always correspond directly to the thickness of the yarn.

However, in some countries, including Australia & the UK, the numbering system of yarn ply still refers to the thickness of the yarn, so it's possible to have a single ply 4ply yarn! - this means that the yarn is constructed of a single ply, but has the traditional thickness of a 4ply sock / fingering yarn).
