Why you'll love it

In stock now, with more on the way: order more than we have on the shelf and the extra skeins will ship from 11 November.

Some yarns are made for warm days, and Nepal is one of them. It's a blend of 60% organic cotton and 40% linen, given a special twist that adds a beautiful natural texture to every stitch. The cotton comes from Italy and the linen from China, and the yarn is spun and dyed in Italy.

The cotton keeps it breathable and the linen gives it a cool feel – perfect for airy summer tops. Reach for it for light jumpers and cardigans too, or knitted and crocheted scarves and accessories. It's easy to work with, and it's hard-wearing too – garments made in Nepal don't stretch and won't wear thin in a hurry.

Nepal comes in 30 natural, vibrant shades, so there's plenty to play with.

A note from us: Pascuali list Nepal as a 4ply with 28 stitches on 3mm needles, but our swatches told a different story. We got 23 stitches on both 3mm and 3.5mm needles, and 22 stitches on 4mm, so it knits up much more like an 8ply.

Care: machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle with a mild detergent. Dry flat – ideally on a towel – and keep it away from direct heat and blazing sun. If needed, iron on the lowest setting.

Yarn Weight vs Yarn Ply

"Ply" technically refers to the construction of the yarn. It's the number of strands that are twisted together to make a single piece of yarn. While "ply" historically related to the thickness (or weight) of the yarn, today's spinning technology means that the number of plies doesn't always correspond directly to the thickness of the yarn.

However, in some countries, including Australia & the UK, the numbering system of yarn ply still refers to the thickness of the yarn, so it's possible to have a single ply 4ply yarn! - this means that the yarn is constructed of a single ply, but has the traditional thickness of a 4ply sock / fingering yarn).
