Why you'll love it

Fiori DK IV is a beautifully smooth 8ply yarn with the luxurious softness of extra fine merino and the depth of colour only hand dyeing can bring. Perfect for garments, wraps or cosy accessories.

Hand dyed in a palette of rich semi-solids and painterly variegated shades, each skein reflects the beauty of the Australian landscape. Because it’s dyed in small batches, no two skeins are quite the same, adding a unique and personal touch to whatever you’re making.

Made from 100% Australian extra fine merino, Fiori DK IV has a lovely drape and soft handle that feels gentle against your skin, making it perfect for next-to-skin wear. It’s a pleasure to knit or crochet with, giving excellent stitch definition and minimal pilling, even with frequent use. A touch of sheen brings the colours to life and makes your finished project really sing.

This is a hand dyed yarn and each skein is unique. For best results, we recommend alternating skeins when you work with it.

Yarn Weight vs Yarn Ply

"Ply" technically refers to the construction of the yarn. It's the number of strands that are twisted together to make a single piece of yarn. While "ply" historically related to the thickness (or weight) of the yarn, today's spinning technology means that the number of plies doesn't always correspond directly to the thickness of the yarn.

However, in some countries, including Australia & the UK, the numbering system of yarn ply still refers to the thickness of the yarn, so it's possible to have a single ply 4ply yarn! - this means that the yarn is constructed of a single ply, but has the traditional thickness of a 4ply sock / fingering yarn).
