Why you'll love it

Fine, luminous and full of character, this 2ply lace is Eri silk at its most delicate. It carries the soft shimmer Eri silk is loved for, with naturally dyed colours that shift and glow as the light moves across them. It's wonderful for lightweight shawls and wraps, airy garments, or held together with another yarn when you'd like a little more substance with that silken halo.

Like all Bonnie's Daughter yarns it's a 'peace silk', gathered only after the moths have left their cocoons and ethically produced in northeast India, then hand-dyed in small natural batches. Alternate your skeins as you go, and enjoy the gentle, one-of-a-kind variation that comes with true natural dyeing.

This is a hand dyed yarn and each skein is unique. For best results, we recommend alternating skeins when you work with it.

Hand-wash gently in cool water with a wool-safe wash, then reshape and dry flat out of direct sunlight. As these are dyed by hand in small natural batches, wash colours separately.

Yarn Weight vs Yarn Ply

"Ply" technically refers to the construction of the yarn. It's the number of strands that are twisted together to make a single piece of yarn. While "ply" historically related to the thickness (or weight) of the yarn, today's spinning technology means that the number of plies doesn't always correspond directly to the thickness of the yarn.

However, in some countries, including Australia & the UK, the numbering system of yarn ply still refers to the thickness of the yarn, so it's possible to have a single ply 4ply yarn! - this means that the yarn is constructed of a single ply, but has the traditional thickness of a 4ply sock / fingering yarn).

Bonnie's Daughter

Bonnie's Daughter is an Australian natural dye company, born from a love handed down through family. Founder Emily is the second of Bonnie's four daughters, and it was her mum who gave her a love of plants, fresh air and making things by hand. She works as a way of honouring herself, her birth-mother and her Earth-mother – and you can feel that care in every skein.

Her signature fibre is Eri silk, often called 'peace silk' – it's gathered only after the moths have matured and left their cocoons naturally, so nothing is harmed in the making.
