Why you'll love it

Fiddlesticks Grange 14 is a 14ply bulky weight wool and alpaca blend that’s perfect for when you want quick results without compromising on comfort. Great for scarves, sweaters, shawls and cosy cardigans.

The bulky weight of Grange 14 makes it a go-to for winter projects, especially when you’re on a deadline or just keen to see progress quickly. The alpaca brings a gentle softness and light halo to the yarn, while the wool provides body and warmth. Alpaca has a tendency to drop and lose its shape, and the addition of acrylic stops this.

It knits and crochets easily into fabric that feels plush but not heavy, with enough structure for garments and accessories alike.

Its colour palette features beautifully heathered tones that add depth to your stitches, particularly in the darker shades. The natural variation from the colours of the alpaca fibre gives each project a slightly heathered effect.

Grange 14 is soft, warm and satisfying to use, making it a great choice for quick, cosy makes you’ll want to wear right away.

Yarn Weight vs Yarn Ply

"Ply" technically refers to the construction of the yarn. It's the number of strands that are twisted together to make a single piece of yarn. While "ply" historically related to the thickness (or weight) of the yarn, today's spinning technology means that the number of plies doesn't always correspond directly to the thickness of the yarn.

However, in some countries, including Australia & the UK, the numbering system of yarn ply still refers to the thickness of the yarn, so it's possible to have a single ply 4ply yarn! - this means that the yarn is constructed of a single ply, but has the traditional thickness of a 4ply sock / fingering yarn).
