Why you'll love it

Prosper DK is a 100% superwash merino yarn that delivers next-to-skin softness, beautiful stitch definition and the vibrant shades Prosper Yarns is known for.

This 8ply / DK weight yarn is ideal for jumpers and cardigans, shawls, scarves, hats and baby garments. It glides smoothly on 3.75–4mm needles, creating an even fabric with gentle bounce and natural elasticity.

With 225m per 100g skein and a gauge of 20–22 stitches per 10cm, it offers versatility for both garments and accessories, while the superwash finish means it can be gently machine washed and dried flat, making it practical for everyday wear and little ones.

Prosper DK is grown, milled and dyed in New Zealand, reflecting a commitment to quality fibre and thoughtful production. The hand-dyed colourways are layered and luminous, giving finished pieces depth and personality while retaining the softness and integrity of fine merino.

This is a hand dyed yarn and each skein is unique. For best results, we recommend alternating skeins when you work with it.

Yarn Weight vs Yarn Ply

"Ply" technically refers to the construction of the yarn. It's the number of strands that are twisted together to make a single piece of yarn. While "ply" historically related to the thickness (or weight) of the yarn, today's spinning technology means that the number of plies doesn't always correspond directly to the thickness of the yarn.

However, in some countries, including Australia & the UK, the numbering system of yarn ply still refers to the thickness of the yarn, so it's possible to have a single ply 4ply yarn! - this means that the yarn is constructed of a single ply, but has the traditional thickness of a 4ply sock / fingering yarn).
