Why you'll love it

Urth Yarns Trill is a superwash merino and linen blend with a rustic, tweedy look and a lovely natural drape. The linen brings breathability and structure, making it a wonderful yarn for the in-between seasons – and it softens beautifully the more you wear it.

Trill is hand dyed in Turkey in a palette inspired by birds, from Cardinal red and Goldfinch yellow to Mallard green and Raven black. It sings in lightweight garments and accessories, and pairs beautifully with the gradient marls of Urth Yarns Spiral Grain Sport. The combination of linen and merino gives a beautifully heathered look to the yarn.

  • 80% superwash merino, 20% linen
  • 4ply / fingering weight
  • 400m / 435yds per 100g skein
  • Needle: 2.75mm–3.75mm or as recommended on the pattern
  • Hook: 2.75mm–3.75mm or as recommended on the pattern
  • Gauge: 25–32 stitches per 10cm
  • Hand dyed in Turkey

A little extra care will help your projects last. Urth Yarns are machine washable on a cool, delicate cycle, but hand washing in cold water with a little wool wash is recommended. Lay flat to dry and never use a dryer. Washing your gauge swatch is a good idea, especially with darker or more saturated colours.

This is a hand dyed yarn and each skein is unique. For best results, we recommend alternating skeins when you work with it.

Yarn Weight vs Yarn Ply

"Ply" technically refers to the construction of the yarn. It's the number of strands that are twisted together to make a single piece of yarn. While "ply" historically related to the thickness (or weight) of the yarn, today's spinning technology means that the number of plies doesn't always correspond directly to the thickness of the yarn.

However, in some countries, including Australia & the UK, the numbering system of yarn ply still refers to the thickness of the yarn, so it's possible to have a single ply 4ply yarn! - this means that the yarn is constructed of a single ply, but has the traditional thickness of a 4ply sock / fingering yarn).
