Length: 300mWeight: 100g
Disco String is a 5ply cotton thread dotted with 3mm and 6mm sequins, made to be held alongside your knitting for an instant glow up. Add shimmer, texture and just a little drama to any project – because sometimes more really is more.
Meet Disco String by Stitch Lane Yarns – the easiest way to turn “that’s nice” into “where did you get that?”
This 100% cotton 5ply thread is dotted with a mix of 3mm and 6mm sequins and designed to be held alongside your favourite yarn. Think of it as the ultimate supporting act – adding shimmer, texture and just enough drama without stealing the whole show. It's a dance party for your yarn!
Hold it double with wool, alpaca, mohair or cotton and watch your fabric come alive. A subtle twinkle in soft neutrals. Full sparkle energy in bold colour. You’re in control of the vibe.
Just remember, a little goes a long way! You don't need to hold it with every row, every second row is still gorgeous, or space it out to every three or four rows for a more subtle (but still fabulous) effect.
Disco String is perfect for:
- adding sparkle to cuffs, collars and trims
- elevating simple stockinette
- gifting projects that deserve a little extra
- knitters who believe more is more
It’s playful. It’s joyful. It’s surprisingly wearable.
And yes – it really does make you want to knit just one more row.

Shown here:
- Sparkles Tee by Lucinda Iglesias (black and green) - uses Sesia Mistral 0067 Black 4 balls (187g) and Disco String 85 Boogie Nights Black x 1 ball (75g). The Disco String was used every second row.
- Brume by Andrea Mowry (rust). Deb used a DK-weight cotton/alpaca very similar to Chaska Wara with Disco String 76 Rainbow Sparkle. She said, "I started using the Disco String about 2cm down the neckline and used it every second row. When I got to the body I used it every row for about 5cm, then realised I was going to run out (and I only had one ball). I went to sequins every 3 of 4 rows, then 2 of 3 rows, every second row, then 1 row in 3 until the end. There were no set number of rows for each amount, I just guesstimated! I love the gradient effect of the sequins."
