Great Ocean Road

Owned and operated by Isabel and Nick, Great Ocean Road Woollen Mill creates beautiful, sustainable yarns from their off-grid mill in Burrumbeet, just outside Ballarat, Victoria. Established in 2015 near the iconic coastal road it’s named after, the mill is a passion project brought to life - combining a love of natural fibres with a strong commitment to ethical and environmentally conscious production.

Sustainably Made, Locally Sourced

Every yarn is made on-site from raw fibre to finished skein using solar power - minimising environmental impact and ensuring full control over quality. Isabel and Nick focus on sourcing local fibres wherever possible, reducing their carbon footprint and supporting nearby farmers.

Their yarns are: 

• Traceable – sourced directly from local producers with known origins
• Natural – free from harsh chemicals and kind to skin 
• Biodegradable – made from fibres that break down naturally
• Mulesing-free – ensuring animal welfare in every step (alpacas never requires mulesing)
