Jake Henzler designed his knitted Sydney Terraces blanket in homage to the city’s iconic residential architecture. This beautiful blanket is a series of eight grid patterns for knitted building blocks inspired by the terrace houses of Sydney. We've put together a selection of starter sets of 4 shades of yarn in Fiddlesticks Wren 8ply cotton - each set will make more than 10 blocks. As Wren is a light DK/8ply yarn it's the perfect weight for knitting this blanket.

About the blocks: in Jake's pattern there are 8 block designs, each block measuring approximately 8.5 x 20cm. Your finished blocks can be sewn together into larger panels such as blankets, cushion covers and more. You can make each of the panels in a variety of colours, but the grids are also designed so that you can mix and match features to create new building blocks. By making small adjustments to features, you can easily make a dozen different blocks with each pattern. Yarn requirements: Jake uses 4ply cotton yarn in his blanket but wool could also be used, e.g. Bellissimo 4ply Merino Extra-Fine or Fiddlesticks Peppin 4. If you prefer a different weight yarn and the corresponding needles these will work just as well, e.g. a DK weight cotton yarn such as Fiddlesticks Wren with 3.75-4mm needles (your block will be a little bigger than if you used 4ply)...or go small and sweet with a laceweight yarn. Begin with a handful of colours you love, then add in new colours as you work.

By: Christine on 6 November 2022My order arrived very quickly and was exactly as ordered. Fiddlesticks 8ply cotton is tightly spun so it doesn’t split making it easy to crochet with. The colours are great. I hope it will soften with washing. Two terraces completed in the Sydney Terraces blanket - only 50 to go!
