Westknits MKAL 2025 Mystery MusiKAL Kits

The 16th Annual Westknits MKAL (Mystery Knit A Long) is here! The MKAL is knitting designer extraordinaire Stephen West's annual Mystery Shawl Knit Along.

This year’s shawl is the Mystery MusiKAL.

This event is the biggest and most entertaining Knit A Long that Westknits hosts, with thousands of knitters participating worldwide, so it's not to be missed. You are sure to learn new techniques and find loads of inspiration from all the dazzling colourplays and wonderful variations which appear in the course of the MKAL. You can expect a collage of bold stitches, unexpected directions and vibrant colour play.

Stephen says "This year we're knitting in four-part harmony! You'll need four contrasting colours of fingering weight yarn to compose your masterpiece. Go for a subtle gradient that whispers like a gentle ballad, or a set of bold, clashing shades that bring down the house. Your Mystery MusiKAL shawl will crescendo into a show-stopping finale!"

This year’s shawl requires 400g of fingering weight yarn, 100g of four different colours.

Our kits

Currently these kits are available as DYED TO ORDER only, with shipping expected to happen throughout September...but don't worry, we'll make sure your order ships by 26th September at the latest, in time for cast on and Clue 1 on 2 October.

Here's a hint...each set will contain a mesmerising combination of colours created by Julia exclusively for the MKAL.
