Colourwork Confidence: Knit Fair Isle in the Round with Tash
Ready to dive into the colourful world of Fair Isle knitting? This hands-on workshop with Tash is the perfect place to start. You'll learn the essential skills of stranded colourwork while knitting a cosy winter hat—your first project in two colours, worked in the round.
Fair Isle can feel a little daunting at first, but Tash will guide you every step of the way. You’ll learn how to hold two yarns comfortably, manage your floats, master colour dominance, and choose yarns that make your patterns pop.
Whether you’ve admired colourwork from afar or tried it once and got tangled up—this class will give you the confidence and techniques to make multi-colour knitting a joy, not a juggle.
What You’ll Learn:
• How to hold and tension two yarns—choose the method that works for you
• Float management: how to carry unused yarn neatly across the back
• Catching floats and spacing stitches evenly
• Understanding colour dominance and how it affects your pattern
• Choosing colours with contrast for bold, beautiful results
Class Highlights:
• Start knitting a warm winter hat featuring traditional stranded colourwork
• Tash’s expert tips for tension, technique and finishing
• Leave with a partially completed project and the confidence to finish it—and make many more!

Your teacher: Tash Childers
Tash has been knitting ever since her grandmother taught her at 8 years of age. She was always a fearless knitter, tackling an all-over intarsia vest for her mum as her first garment when she was 12. While taking time off from Mathematics teaching to raise her children, she taught many of her friends to knit and co-ordinated a mothers’ group for knitters. She is passionate about sharing the joy of knitting with others and helping knitters to improve their skills, so they have the confidence to tackle any project.
