Across this multi-week class, Tash will guide you through every stage of the pattern – understanding the techniques, solving problems as they come up and knitting with confidence. It's a chance to build real garment-making skills at a relaxed pace, with time to knit between sessions and the encouragement of working alongside other knitters on the same project. This isn't a learn-to-knit class – it's for knitters who are ready to take on their first sweater, or their next one, with an experienced guide beside them.

Its beautifully textured yoke, relaxed oversized silhouette and remarkable versatility mean it can be knitted in everything from laceweight to worsted yarn – choose a fine yarn for a light, airy and softly transparent garment, or something thicker for a cosier, more structured finish. It's a sweater that can look completely different depending on your yarn, and that freedom is a big part of its magic.

You’ll leave feeling confident about working shaping, lace, short rows and professional finishing techniques, with the skills to continue your sweater independently and take on future garment projects with far less hesitation.
Key information
Duration: In-person workshop consisting of an initial 4hr class (+ 15 min break) followed by a 3hr session two weeks later
Skill level: Intermediate. Participants should be comfortable knitting, purling, working ribbing and knitting in the round, including small-circumference knitting using either Magic Loop or double-pointed needles.
You have homework! Before your first class...
Please knit and block a gauge swatch measuring approximately 15 cm × 15 cm using your chosen yarn and needles, and bring it with you to the first session.
What to bring:
- The Ranunculus pattern by Midori Hirose, available for purchase on Ravelry
- Your chosen yarn – laceweight through to worsted/10ply, depending on the look you would like to achieve; approximately 400–1,000 metres depending on size, sleeve length and yarn choice. We're here to help if you would like to discuss your yarn choice - drop by the shop and we can help you find what you will love.
- Circular needles: 6mm circular needles: one 40 cm and one 80 cm or longer + 5mm circular needles: 80–100 cm long
- A crochet hook approximately the same size as your larger needle
- Stitch markers that fit your larger needle
- Tape measure

Tash has been knitting ever since her grandmother taught her at 8 years of age. She was always a fearless knitter, tackling an all-over intarsia vest for her mum as her first garment when she was 12. While taking time off from Mathematics teaching to raise her children, she taught many of her friends to knit and co-ordinated a mothers’ group for knitters. She is passionate about sharing the joy of knitting with others and helping knitters to improve their skills, so they have the confidence to tackle any project.

- Minimum numbers - All classes require a minimum of three people in order to go ahead and, depending on the class, a maximum of 6. If your class or workshop does not have the minimum number of students, the class will be postponed and you will be notified within three days of the class date if it has been cancelled or changed.
- We cannot be held liable for travel or any other costs in the event of a cancellation.
- If your class is postponed or cancelled you can use the amount paid to transfer to another event/activity, use it as a store credit, or be issued a full refund.
Cancelling a class
- Up to 7 days before the class - you are able to cancel, postpone or swap a class up to 7 days prior to the class date and can receive a full refund.
- 7 days-24 hours before the class - we are able to offer a credit but we cannot guarantee a full refund unless another booking fills your spot.
- Less than 24 hours before the class - no credit or refund available.
- When the booking is for a multi-session course, the following applies: Once the course has started, no refunds or store credits are available. Missed sessions within a course cannot be refunded, rescheduled or transferred individually.
