Finding your way around Ravelry
The Ravelry website is an incredible resource for fibre lovers – knitters, crocheters, spinners, dyers and designers alike. It’s packed with patterns, yarn information, project inspiration and community groups, but getting started can feel a little overwhelming if you’re not familiar with how it all works.
In this class, Jane will guide you through the essentials of using Ravelry so you can search more effectively, organise your projects and favourites, and connect with the wider fibre community with confidence.
In this class you’ll learn how to:
- register for and log in to Ravelry
- search for patterns using filters such as yarn weight, gauge, garment type and construction method
- set up and personalise your profile page
- search for yarns and save useful information
- keep track of your projects
- organise your favourites and queues
- find and join groups that interest you
- participate in forums and post questions
- understand basic online etiquette within the Ravelry community
What to bring
You don’t need to bring anything for this class, however you are very welcome to bring along your smartphone or tablet if you’d like to follow along during the session.
Class duration: 2 hours
About your teacher

Inspired by her grandmother, who could crochet intricate tablecloths without ever referring to a pattern, Jane learned to crochet as a teenager and has now been crocheting for more than 30 years.
Jane is a member of the Knitters’ Guild NSW and has taught crochet at Guild meetings, Guild camp and yarn stores across Sydney. Her work has won prizes at both the Sydney Royal Easter Show and the St Ives Show.
Jane also spends a ridiculous amount of time on Ravelry, making her the perfect guide to help you make the most of this wonderful online fibre community!

Navigating Ravelry
By: Gillian Stegmann on 12 January 2020I recently attended 'Navigating Ravelry' with Jane and I could not rate this course more highly. The notes Jane prepared are excellent and very easy to follow, as was our session on the day. I am completely satisfied and am looking forward to using my new skills. Thank you. Gillian
