Help! As knitters we've all had that sinking feeling when we realise we've gone wrong somewhere in a project... find out how to identify and fix those mistakes to rescue your knitting in this practical and enjoyable class.
You'll learn some incredibly useful techniques to work out where your stitches have gone wrong, and then the practical skills to fix mistakes without undoing your knitting.
You'll be able to identify and fix common mistakes including:
- dropped stitches
- too many or too few stitches
- wrong stitches (e.g. knit instead of purl)
- twisted stitches
- holes in your knitting
- missed increases or decreases
By the end of the class you'll have the confidence to ‘read’ your knitting to trouble-shoot and fix knitting problems (even when they're several rows down) so your knits will look and feel their beautiful best for years. You'll improve your knitting and ability to tackle future knitting projects.
There will be plenty of time to practice in class, ask questions and discuss your new skills with your class group.

Important info for this class
Duration: 2 hours
What to bring:
- some DK or worsted weight (8 or 10ply) yarn. Please bring smooth, light coloured yarn so your stitches are easy to see - Peppin 8 or Peppin 10 is perfect
- knitting needles to suit your yarn (4mm for DK and 5-5.5mm for worsted). Your needles can be circular or straight but if circular preferably at least 60cm long from tip to tip.
- a crochet or rescue hook in a size similar to your needles
- a few locking stitch markers
- a double pointed needle or cable needle in a size similar to your knitting needles
- a tapestry needle
Tash will have spare notions to borrow in class if you don't have them yourself.
Before coming to class you will need to knit a swatch (we'll send an email reminder a few days before your class):
- Using your yarn cast on 30 stitches (any kind of cast on) and knit 10 rows of garter stitch and then 10 rows of stockinette stitch.
- Leave your work on the needles and bring it with you.
You're entitled to a 10% discount on yarn, accessory and book purchases in store on the day.

Tash has been knitting ever since her grandmother taught her at 8 years of age. She was always a fearless knitter, tackling an all-over intarsia vest for her mum as her first garment when she was 12. While taking time off from Mathematics teaching to raise her children, she taught many of her friends to knit and co-ordinated a mothers’ group for knitters. She is passionate about sharing the joy of knitting with others and helping knitters to improve their skills, so they have the confidence to tackle any project.
Terms and conditions
- Full payment is required prior to the start of the class to confirm your spot.
- Minimum numbers - All classes require a minimum of three people in order to go ahead and, depending on the class, a maximum of up to 10. If your class or workshop does not have the minimum number of students, the class will be postponed and you will be notified within three days of the class date if it has been cancelled or changed. We cannot be held liable for travel or any other costs in the event of a cancellation.
- If your class is postponed or cancelled you can use the amount paid to transfer to another event/activity, use as a store credit, or be issued a full refund.
Cancelling a class
- Up to 7 days before the class - you are able to cancel, postpone or swap a class up to 7 days prior to the class date and can receive a full refund.
- 7 days-24 hours before the class - we are able to offer a credit but we cannot guarantee a full refund unless another booking fills your spot.
- Less than 24 hours before the class - no credit or refund available.
